What ages do you accept?
We accept children age 2 1/2 to 4 into our preschool.
What are the preschool hours?
Early drop-off begins at 7:00. Classroom hours are from 7:40 to 3:00. Aftercare hours begin at 3:00 and end at 6:00.
Does my child need to be potty-trained?
Children do not have to be fully potty-trained. The teachers encourage children to toilet train with regular restroom breaks. However, many still choose to wear pull-ups in case of accidents.
What is a typical day like?
Children begin the day with morning prayer followed by academic instruction. There are regular restroom breaks, lunch and snack times, and nap time. The children have daily P.E. classes and weekly art, computer, and music classes.
Do I need to pack a lunch for my child?
St. James offers student lunches at a cost of $2.70. Some students qualify for the Federal Lunch Program reduced or free rates. Students who do not wish to purchase a school lunch may bring one from home. No sodas or candy are permitted.
How much does St. James cost?
The preschool tuition rate (which includes all books and fees) is $415 a month or a discounted rate of $3,950 for the academic year if paid up front.
What is your Covid-19 and sick policy?
St. James follows the guidance of the CDC and the Etowah County EMA office. Currently, masks are optional, classrooms are sanitized regularly, and those who test positive must quarantine for 5 days and mask for an additional five days. Those with a known exposure must wear a mask at school. For routine illnesses, we require that students be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
In what event will the school be closed?
St. James posts an academic calendar with a listing of holiday and in-service closing dates. In the event of inclement weather, we follow the Gadsden City School system announcements. Parents will be notified by Remind and Facebook of emergency closings.
